Tektree is Hiring an Injection Molding Technician Near Hamburg, NJ

The incumbent is responsible for the maintenance of compression, transfer, and injection molds and the installation and set-up of the molds in presses when they are needed to run production.

Mold Maintenance: The person in this position (incumbent), before conducting any work on the mold, must conduct a mold assessment which shall include a mold inspection and a review of all notes from Process Engineering and Production on any issues that were identified during the last production run. Once the initial inspection is complete the incumbent will disassemble the mold, continuing to inspect the mold components for damage to identified areas that need repair and to determine the extent of the cleaning required to ensure proper operation of the mold after reassembly. The incumbent will make notes of the as-found condition following their full inspection of the mold, the repairs that were made to the mold, the types and level of cleaning performed and any remaining unresolved issues with the mold. The incumbent is required to inform their manager on any unresolved issues. The incumbent will follow the mold maintenance work instructions and equipment set-up procedures and work instructions as documented.

Mold Set-Up: The person in this position (incumbent), when a mold is needed for production shall install the mold in the press. The mold set-up may require a mold to be removed from the press prior to the installation of the mold now required for production. Once the mold has been installed in the press, the incumbent will run the press, cycling the mold to be certain everything (press and mold) function correctly and then, working with the assigned production personnel, produce parts that pass first piece inspection. Once the product being produced from the press / mold set-up passes first piece inspection, the incumbent shall secure a sign-off from Process Engineering, Quality, and Production Departments acknowledging the job is complete.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Mold Inspection and Maintenance: Inspects and maintains all molds to ensure that each mold is in good operating condition and can produce parts that meet the customer’s requirements. Ensures Molds, that are going into mid and long-term storage, are properly prepared and protected for storage. Ensures Molds are stored according to the approved Molds Inventory Storage Location Plan.

Mold Set-Up: Installs molds in presses to ensure the mold operates correctly and the set-up produces parts that meet the customer requirement (passes first piece inspection).

SKILLS AND CAPABILITIES

  • Technical ability to understand manufacturing equipment and processes.
  • Mechanical skills including the use of tools and lifting equipment for the assembly and disassembly of molds and installation of molds in a press.
  • Possesses the ability to focus and pay attention to details to ensure the reassembly of molds and the installation of molds into a press are done correctly to avoid damage to expensive equipment and / or customer owned equipment.

QUALIFICATIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES

  • High school diploma, or GED; two or more years related experience with production equipment maintenance. Rubber processing equipment experience preferred.
  • Experience with assembly and disassembly of mechanical items, rebuilding mechanical items such as equipment and engines, and operating mechanical equipment.
  • Must be a US citizen or possess legal US citizenship status.
  • Must have or be able to operate a ifforklt, agrees to take forklift operator training and complete the forklift operator testing as required.
  • Must exhibit sound and accurate judgment when performing all assigned duties.
  • Motivation- Sets and achieves challenging goals; demonstrates persistence and overcomes obstacles; measures self against standard of excellence.
  • Uses available documentation for equipment to troubleshoot and repair equipment.
  • Supports company Quality Systems.
  • Protect Company assets by the direct intervention of any condition resulting in the abuse of equipment or buildings.
  • Executes the preventive maintenance program as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Communicates (oral and written) with the Maintenance, Engineering and Production teams the status of Molds going through the maintenance process and / or being set-up in a press for production.
  • Other duties as assigned or required.

SAFETY

Is safety conscious. At all times, the incumbent always wears the correct Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), is always looking out for teammates to ensure their personal safety and is watchful for and reports all unsafe acts and unsafe conditions. Maintains a clean and organized work area (5S).
